About us
An external Australian territory, Norfolk Island is located in the Pacific Ocean between the Australian mainland and New Zealand.
The Norfolk Island National Park and Botanic Garden was declared in 1986 and now makes up 19% of the land area of the island.
The park is home to stunning scenery and walking tracks that take visitors on a journey through plant habitats found nowhere else on earth. Visit us to discover palm forests, walk under the tallest tree ferns on earth and explore breathtaking stands of Norfolk Island pine growing up to sixty metres high.
Amazing birdlife can also be found in the park, including the iconic and endangered Norfolk Island green parrot.
The park’s small team keeps busy with conservation work. This includes managing feral animals and weeds, rehabilitating the park and protecting dozens of threatened plant and animal species.
