On 28 March 2025 the government assumed a Caretaker role. Information on websites maintained by Parks Australia will be published in accordance with the Guidance on Caretaker Conventions until after the conclusion of the caretaker period.

This monument and scenic lookout stand at the spot on the northern coast where Captain James Cook and his officers landed in 1774.

The lookout enjoys spectacular views of the coastline. There are also picnic tables, barbecues and toilet facilities, making this a popular place to stop for a scenic lunch.

The Bridle Track starts at the bottom of the grassy slope below the monument, following the stunning coastline before joining up with the Red Stone Link Track.

Access to the lookout is via Duncombe Bay Road.
