Silvereye

With a white eye-ring distinctive of this genus of birds, you can distinguish silvereyes from their close relatives, white-eyes, by the red brown shading down the sides of the breast.

Silvereyes have adapted to life on the island within the forest and around human habitation. You can find them year-round wherever fruit is available.

Where to see

Silvereyes tend to congregate. Try walking along the summit track where they flock in groups in trees along the track’s edge.
