Welcome to Norfolk Island

We are excited to welcome you to Norfolk Island, a remote paradise at the intersection of tropical and subtropical latitudes, and home to incredible wildlife from towering Norfolk Island pines, lush subtropical rainforest, iconic bird species, to spectacular coral gardens mere metres from shore.

Norfolk Island has a fascinating and multi-layered history of seafarers, convicts and mutineers. Norfolk Islanders (those of Pitcairn descent) are the predominant culture on the island today. The islanders, who are proud custodians, live a lifestyle enriched in diverse traditions and cultural practices.

Abstracts

More information about the call for abstract submissions, including abstract submission templates, will be provided shortly.

We will consider abstracts focusing on the following themes, within an island context. Abstracts can focus on either marine or terrestrial environments, and preference will be given to those with an applied management focus.

practical advances in climate adaptation / resilience
innovation in conservation and invasive species management (and learning from ‘failures’)
drivers of restoration and translocation success
the marine environment in an island context
Indigenous stewards managing land and sea
community initiatives and citizen science
working together: cross sector partnerships and governance
sustainable finance and development, including eco-tourism.

Workshops

We encourage proposals for workshops focused on specific topics with relevance for informing on-ground management or decision-making. More information to come.
